Enquiring Minds Want to Know

Did you feel the earthquake on Friday or any of the aftershocks? I meant to post this earlier, but I kept forgetting. You'd have to be a Midwesterner to have felt it. Maybe you're thinking, "What earthquake?" That was Brad - he slept through the whole thing. I actually didn't know that we'd had an earthquake, but I sort of remember waking up thinking that I was dreaming about being shaken. I went back to sleep thinking about all the earthquakes I remembered in this house (since I grew up here and lived here for 19 years before moving here this time, I remember a whopping total of TWO earthquakes in this house).
My brother-in-law Clay woke up and realized the earth was quaking.
My dad was awake but not wanting to get up yet (it was 5:30am or so). He thought it was the cat. Dad also "felt" (more likely, heard) an aftershock at 11:15 am. His squeaky desk just kept squeaking...
What's your story?

I slept right through it! My husband woke up and thought it was thunder and went back to sleep.

I had already blogged for an hour when it hit - - - I was in my chair having devos, and it LASTED what seemed like foreva - - - that scared me more than anything as I wondered if it was just building up to something worse.

I didn't feel any of the aftershocks

I remember waking up and I was holding on to the nightstand...the lamp was rattling and I was trying to quiet it. We have a waterbed and although it wasn't "sloshing" it was moving. I just blamed it on Brian and went back to sleep. Jess woke up to turn off her ceiling fan thinking that it was rattling. We were both pretty glad we "experienced" it...kinda fun. Everyone else, of course, slept right thru...Anna was so upset she missed it that she asked if we could "do it again"!!

I forgot to mention what Rachel said. She thought that it was no big deal because it was just rocks sliding against each other. No one could get hurt by that. We tried to explain without scaring her that earthquakes ARE a big deal some places, and could be a very big deal here at some point. That's hard for a seven year old to understand :(

I have no survival story. Being 1500 miles away, i didn't feel it at 2:37 a.m. MDT. But at 7 a.m., I was watching Today when they announced the great midwest earthquake.

I totally slept through it too! Everyone has been talking about it here in the city, but I honestly didn't feel it, or any of the aftershocks. I like Amy's comment about the "great midwest earthquake". I only remember 1 growing up in Upland and it was pretty benign. Glad to hear everyone is OK.
