I like shoes and ravioli

Just like his sister, Daniel has a thing for shoes at this age. He insists on putting them on himself - over his sleeper. If I try to help, I'm greeted by screams. Yes, he's turned into an independent toddler! Rachel's shoes seem to work better than anyone else's - they're easier to get on than his own, and they stay on better than Mommy and Daddy's.
Ravioli! Need I say more? Yum :)

Update

I took this picture right before she went to bed. It's looking rather yellow now.

Here she is

Her first black eye... I must say it looks worse in person. She thought it looked better today - we didn't have the heart to tell her that although the puffiness was down, the color was UP. I didn't get a picture today, though. She made it through school Friday with one little boy laughing at her and two trips to the nurse for ice. She was very innocently explaining how the nurse wanted to know what happened and when it happened, etc. Thankfully Mom told me that the nurse is the mother of my best friend in elementary school, so she really should believe Rachel when she said she fell off the bed!

A Rachel story... She was very cute when we were going to Marion tonight. She wanted to know where Florida was on the map and where we are. Since we just flew back from Florida, she wanted to know why it took so long (2 whole hours!). I guess she doesn't remember that 18 hour drive we made a few years ago. Anyway, she started naming the interstates needed to drive to Florida! There's 69... then 65... it's still 65... We finally told her to look for I-75 going into FL, and she found it. She found Orlando, Tampa, and St. Pete. Amazing. Some adults can't do that! The really cute thing was that she thought the plane was following those roads to get there.

A Daniel story... I've decided that boys automatically know how to play football. He got down on the floor and hiked the his football to me between his legs, over and over and over again. Too cute.

A Baby story... I heard the heartbeat yesterday!! I have no reason to think that anything is wrong, but after one miscarriage, I am so paranoid! I was just in for the nurse's appointment and I asked to see if she would try to find the heartbeat, and she did. Ahhh... I'm not sick as much anymore and then I started wondering if all was well. I think it's easier after I can feel the baby moving - then you know all is well :)
A "favorite local coffee shop" story... for those of you who are missing the Monday/Thursday half price coffee nights... WE HAVE A SOLUTION! Call Lakeview and ask to purchase a discount card that the junior highers are selling. You can get 50% off any latte anytime! (And yes, that's 50% off and not $.50 off).

Poor Girl

Rachel fell and hit the corner of her eye on a metal bar. She's going to have a great looking black eye, and she's really worried that everyone will laugh at her at school. So, please pray for my baby girl, that her eye won't hurt and neither will her feelings. :)

A few of my favorite things

Robin insipired me to make a list of some favorite things I discovered in 2006. My list will be a bit shorter than hers, however. I am going to try a few things on her list - check it out!
Here's a few of my favorite things...

Creative Memories StoryBooks You can have your photos printed with their stories in a bound book and delivered to your door! You don't have to even mess with the processing and printing of the images. Just drag and drop your digital images into the program, upload it and CM Photo Center does the rest. Since I'm a Creative Memories Consultant I had a head start on these books this year - I've done two so far and they are AMAZING, easy, and fast!

Tastfully Simple's Oh My! Chai Absolutely wonderful chai - and cheaper than going to Tree of Life! Amy sells this great stuff, of which I'm out, by the way. I NEED more!

Don't Panic - Dinner's in the Freezer cookbook - Buy meat on sale and pick recipes to triple and freeze! What a concept! I already have the concept of coupon shopping - buy on sale and with a coupon that is doubled (can't find triple much anymore). This just applies the concept to meat and preparing the meat while it's fresh from the store instead of freezing it right away and wondering what I'm going to do with it. We've tried the "Once a month cooking" technique, but we didn't care for that as much because you actually cooked the meals and then froze them. This cookbook does that for a very few items, but a lot of them are put together and then frozen BEFORE cooking. That makes it taste like you just prepared it instead of like it's from the freezer. Now I just have to master the art of planning ahead enough to actually THAW the dinner before I want to serve it.

My brand new memory foam contour pillow... my massage therapist recommended this and I hadn't bought it because they were kind of expensive. I found one at Penney's after Christmas on a very big sale, so I tried it. I'm not sure how I ever got along without it - and I've only slept on it 3 nights! It helps quite a bit with that pesky fibromyalgia neck and upper back pain.

The latest version of Internet Explorer with tabs has just made it on my list as well, because it made posting the links in this blog so much easier!

All right - what are some of your favorites?
