It's not about winning, Mommy

After a very long drive from Albany, New York (Happy Labor Day to us!), we have finally made it home. Kevin and Tara stuck around to spend time with family before we all went our separate directions, and we had a very nice time with them and all of my extended family on Sunday before starting the trip home.
I was trying to keep Rachel occupied during the last couple of hours on the road by playing a BINGO game we found at McDonald's (It was actually only the second time we ate at McDonald's on the entire trip!) We had to find several things along the road, like stop signs, other road signs, mail boxes, etc. She didn't stay interested for very long, and I tried to keep her interested by telling her that I was going to win. That's when she very politely informed me that "It's not about winning, Mommy." Rachel is very good at playing the Mommy role when she feels it's necessary.
I start teaching "Exploring Chemistry" this week at IWU and then an Introduction to Chemistry lab next week. So, I'll spend Tuesday at IWU getting ready for students Wed. Rachel is back to school Tuesday, and then we're getting together with Brad's parents and all of his dad's siblings. Should be a fun day! So far this evening, Daniel has absolutely no interest in going to bed... it's 11:05. Ugh. He was such a good baby on our trip, so I can't complain... too much. :)

Rachel and Elizabeth would be an interesting mix to watch play a game. To Elizabeth, it is all about winning (I have no idea where she gets that competitive spirit.)

Sounds like you've got a busy day! Have fun going back to school! Tell Brad's parents we said hello! We think of them often, usually with a grin on our faces. So many stories . . .

Glad you made it back. I am anxious to hear all the details of the wedding. They look so great!

We did a little road trip this weekend ans went to find your new house!

I can find it no problem! That, as you know, is a big deal for me and my DDD (direction deficit disorder)

Sorry about the lack of comments, Kari. I read your posts, though (if that counts for anything). So glad you have joined the blogging community.

Kevin's bride is so pretty: what a cute couple!

Don't know if you remember me-it's Kim (Carter) Delp. How fun to look at your blog and think about growing up around your fam in grandma and grandpa's church! Kevin married! WOW! Makes me feel like a grown-up. You have a beautiful fam.

Hey Kari! Thanks for the comment on my last post. Blogging is just plain fun, I know! I'm working at a jr./high school doing all the piano work for the choirs (and anything else that needs to get done!). It's a blast...lots of reward with not much responsibility actually falling on my shoulders. I'm loving it! And can I just say I can't believe we're old enough for you to be a prof at IWU! You're amazing!

Deb, Sometimes it is all about winning for Rachel... when she's winning or thinks she should be. It would be fun to watch the two of them. :)

Jenn, I'm glad you found my new house! We're still having a bit of trouble with the closing... I'lld definitely write about it when it's completed. Then you can see the inside...
