They did such a good job on her...

...(she said she) looks life-like.  (As she posed for this picture) Surgery went well, but they didn't do what they thought they were going to do.  It became exploratory surgery with possible plans for a future hysterectomy.

A snow event that deserves the name.

I love a good sticky snow.
The trees look so pretty that way!

Hanging on to autumn bike rides and then...
winter sneaks up and snows on your (bike) ride.

Going Swimming!

My dad wasn't up to traveling from Rochester to Marion
and then back again in a single day, so he got a room...
with a pool!  We all thought it was an excellent idea.

Kid's Pic after Church

Kymana has been with our family most of this school semester.
She fits right in and is in Rachel's class at Lakeview.

I've always been partial to trophies... and good friends.

The best kind of friendships always take right back up where you left them.
We feasted at the greatest BBQ joint on Denver Bierman's recommendation.
We caught up with him and his family in Nashville
on our way to the Catalyst Conference in Atlanta.

This was from our final meal at the Catalyst Conference.
Since the event was over we could actually get more than 1/4 mile from our seats.
It was great to be with a current staff teammate, Anton Folz,
and a former staff teammate, Chad McDonald.

Bridging Summer into the New School Year

Doctor visit time in preparation for school!

Keeping them occupied is the hardest part while we wait.

End of summer and beginning of school
is also a good time to visit with the Terhune Grandparents!

...and the Newell Grandparents.
(Though since there in town, we see them many times.)

Hmmm... All the pictures are gone...

unless your computer has cached these photo files previously or Kari was the orginator of a post.  It's a long story, but let's leave it at... oops!

I guess Google had auto-created Picasa albums for me on an account that I never set up to do that function.  So, when I deleted that account last night at 12:30am I also deleted all the previous pictures to our family blog and the 12 or so church-based blogs that I administer.  Now I leave you with the fact that it's a whole new day and everything will be new from here on out.  Have a great day!  (Now back to rebuilding the church web presence.)

After working a third-shift security detail at Family Camp,
I got some great foggy morning pictures.

I love the way the street light lit the details on the tree bark.

Looking out across the field beside the rec field at Fairmount Campground.

The last quiet view before the smells of breakfast awaken the camp.

From our Chicago Trip!

On our way to Chicago this summer we stopped off at a State Park.
Here we got in and cooled off in Lake Michigan.
(Sarah was on my shoulders so she wouldn't get her cast wet.)

Once we arrived in Chicago we parked at Soldier Field.
Then we went on our museum visit!
(The addition here is Kristen - our take-along 'nanny'.)

The kids had a great time!
Here they are playing in the submarine display.

While Kristen watched the other three,
Kari, Andrew and I took the 'L' to a Cubs game!

We took in the sites and had a great time
while Kari went to her conference.
This was our final excursion as a whole family,
a boat tour of downtown and of the lake!

PAL Club Champions!

Rachel's team wins the PAL Club Championship!

It was a nail-biter, but we always like those kinds of games.

It kept most everyone's attention.

Daniel loves giving rides to Andrew in his pink Barbie Jeep. Today he added the wagon/trailer option.

Packing up...

the family before the fireworks because of the natural fireworks (lightning). The philharmonic was good though - while it lasted.

My old coverless taillight...

and my newly salvaged and installed one. The dealership wanted $175 to replace it and I got it done for $50 and 5 minutes of my time.

Shiny and Clean...

The hole is filled with a new sink, disposal, drain and faucet. Plus, there are 2 new counter tops too! Made affordable by sweat, and great helpers: Dave, Kristin, Kari, Rachel, Daniel, Sarah and Andrew.

There's a hole in my kitchen...

it's where my sink used to be!
We pulled out the guts from under the sink too.

Standing on THE winner's stand...

at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!

Rachel is skipping school...

with her whole class and the principal to try her had at racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!

A massive amount of water rained down...

in just a few minutes leaving those that live in the new University Village development wishing there was another entrance/exit to their neighborhood.

When I tried to get home with some tacos following the preschool program, I had to find another way around because Washington Street was flooded from halfway between 45th & 46th streets up to University Boulevard.  Luckily, there are multiple ways to get to my house.

So we have a truck...

that sits out back of the church. These birds must know that it has a transmission problem and isn't going any where soon.

They use big equipment...

to put in the Kohl's store and I just had my kids pose with it!

They offered free family portraits at church on Easter morning.  In the age of reality being PhotoShop-ed right out of our pictures, I hope this is a breath of fresh air.

Sarah - Not quite the Indiana Farm Country Girl, Yet

My mother-in-law, Joan, bought a new milk product and gave it to Daniel and Sarah for lunch.  She began to explain, "It comes from Indiana cows who are fed Indiana-grown grain.  It has no additives, preservatives, or hormones.  It naturally contains omega-3 and is very healthy milk."  Sarah began re-explaining it back to Joan, "The cows eat their food, then they pee, and it's milk!"

Joan then realized how very difficult it was trying to explain how we REALLY get the milk and to do so with a serious face.

Sarah then said (after Daniel helped explain), "Oh, those 4 things that hang down!"

The things she comes up with.

Yep there it is...

Terhune, Indiana.

Notice the name of the church.

I was here as a kid and decided to check out the town one more time. Hard to imagine, but there is even less here than before.
